Prime Minister Sherif Ismail had a meeting on Tuesday with Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides on boosting bilateral cooperation in the various domains.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the Cypriot ambassador in Cairo.

During the meeting, Ismail hailed Cyprus's role in support of Egypt at the international level, stressing Egypt's firm stand in support of the Cypriot issue in line with the relevant UN resolutions, Cabinet Spokesman Ambassador Hossam Qaweish said in statements on Tuesday.

Ismail added preparations are ongoing for the Egyptian-Cypriot-Greek summit, set for Cairo this year, the spokesman said.

He added that the two sides discussed a number of joint projects, including cultivating olive trees in Sinai, establishing fisheries on the Egyptian coasts and promoting the yacht tourism.

For his part, the Cypriot foreign minister asserted his country's keenness on bolstering ties with Egypt, saying he is looking forward to implementing a number of joint projects, particularly in the energy and natural gas exploration fields.

The two sides also mulled a possible power linkage between Africa and Europe via Egypt and Cyprus and bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector.
