Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser el Qady received Hungarian National Development Minister Miklos Sesztak on Thursday to discuss future cooperation and investment opportunities in the ICT sector.

During the meeting, Qady reviewed work priorities in the coming period, investment opportunities and available partnerships, which include establishing a technology park bringing about added value to Egypt and providing job opportunities for innovative youth, a ministry statement said.

They also discussed establishing a strong industry to design and produce electronics targeting both domestic consumption and export.

Qady discussed efforts of developing and enabling human resources through technologies in the fields that serve future industries, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence and big data sciences to create a base of entrepreneurs and support small and medium enterprises and emerging ones in the ICT field. This is in addition to national projects in e-government implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in partnership with the private sector.

These projects, including smart meters, bring about returns and benefits to Egypt. The two parties discussed cooperation opportunities in these projects especially that Hungary has experience in this field.

For his part, Miklos hailed developments that Egypt witnesses to maximize the use of ICT to serve the economy, industry and government performance. The Hungarian minister reviewed the features of ICT sector in Hungary, and pointed out that five mobile operators are in the Hungarian market to serve 10 million citizens spreading at a rate of 120%.
