Berri receives French, Egyptian ambassadors, tackles

Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, on Monday met at his Ein al-Teeneh residence with French Ambassador to Lebanon, Bruno Foucher, and discussed with him the most recent developments in Lebanon and the region.

Ambassador Foucher also handed Berri an invitation letter from the President of the French Senate, hoping to meet his invitation to visit France.

Separately, Berri received Dr. Riad Salameh, Governor of the Lebanese Central Bank. The pair dwelt on the country's financial situation.

Berri also had an audience with Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Nazih Al-Najari. Both men discussed the current political developments, mainly the Egyptian role helping resolve the Lebanese political crisis.

The Egyptian Ambassador conveyed to Berri a letter from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi congratulating on the Prophet's birthday.

"I was honored to meet Speaker Berri and would like to thank him deeply for his solidarity and support for Egypt after the terrible incident at Al Rawda mosque -- this disgraceful terrorist incident. In fact, since this terrible act and this terrorist operation, I have been aware that all the Lebanese consider the incident as targeting them as much as it is targeting Egypt," the diplomat said on emerging.

He added, "I would like to assure you that this crime, which is aimed at targeting Egypt's role in the Arab arena, will not deter us from playing our role in this region with our Arab brothers," he added
