Afghan President meets US Defence Secretary

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani met Monday with US Defence Secretary Ash Carter who arrived on unannounced visit to Afghanistan.
"I have confidence in the ability of the Afghan security forces to provide security and keep Afghanistan stable," Carter said during a joint press conference with Ghani.
President Barack Obama's decision to keep 8,400 US troops in Afghanistan beyond the end of the year is to assist Afghan forces in facing new challenges, he said.
