Writer Valentin Rasputin passes away

The famous Soviet and Russian writer Valentin Rasputin has died in a Moscow hospital, media reports said.
Valentin Rasputin was born March 15, 1937 in the village of Atalanka, in the Ust-Uda district of the Irkutsk region into a family of peasants. After school he entered the philological faculty of Irkutsk State University.
Among his most famous works of prose are " Farewell to Matyora", "French Lessons", "The Last Term", and "Live and Remember". It belongs to the representatives of so-called "Village Prose".
Valentin Rasputin was awarded the State Prize of the USSR (1977, 1987), the State Prize of the Russian Federation for outstanding achievements in the field of humanitarian activities in 2012, the prize of L.N. Tolstoy, the prize of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, of F.M. Dostoyevsky, the Russian President Prize for literature and art, the RF Government Award for outstanding achievements in the field of culture, the award "Great Book" and many others.
