Syrian refugees name babies after Turkish PM

Syrian refugees in Turkey have paid homage to Turkish Prime Minster Recep Tayyip Erdogan by naming their newborns after him, Anatolia press agency said on Saturday. Of 23 Syrians born in Turkey since refugees began crossing the border, five were named Recep Tayyip or Tayyip Erdogan. The Turkish leader has promised that his country will never close its doors to Syrians escaping the bloody crackdown in their own country. More than 10,000 Syrian refugees live in five camps erected by the Turkish Red Crescent in the southern Hatay province, near the Syrian border. Anatolia said Turkish health officials were looking after 160 pregnant women. But three Syrians, including a 10-month-old baby, have died since crossing into Turkey.
