The UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, today morning visited the Women's Museum in al-Ras district in Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by H. H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development He autographed the museum's guest book stating: "I am glad to see such a creative work that reflects the ability of Emirati women in various national fields. The museum is the fruit of an outstanding effort led by Dr. Rafia Ghubash to introduce Emirati culture and heritage to visitors and tourists. Reviving women's history is the revival of memory of our people. We support this innovative effort." Sheikh Mohammed, Sheikh Hamdan and Al Owais toured the museum, which exhibits the historic photos for the founding fathers and other national figures. The Vice President was briefed by Dr Ghubash, the founder of Women's Museum, about the old and rare photos of the founding fathers and national figures who lived in that era. He was briefed on the old passports of prominent Emirati women during the British Colonisation period. Sheikh Mohammed also viewed an artwork demonstrating Emirati women and politics: it narrates the role of Emirati women in the local politics since 1819. Some of the women dignitaries featured in this artwork are: Sheikha Hessa bint Al Murr (the mother of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum), Sheikha Salama bint Zayed I, Sheikha Latifa bint Hamdan Al Nahyan (the wife of late Sheikh Rashid), Aisha bint Mohammed bin Ali bin Huwaidan and Meera bint Mohammed bin Salem Al Suwaidi. The artwork also exhibits Emirati women who have great impact in the UAE's modern history such as H. H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and H. H. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bint Juma Al Maktoum wife of the UAE Vice President. Sheikh Mohammed was also accompanied during the tour by Sheikh Mohammed's Advisor for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, Chairman of the Emirates Human Rights Association, Abdul Ghafar Hussein, Dubai Municipality Director General, Hussein Nasser Lootah, Cultural Consultant at Dubai Government, Jamal Huwaireb Al Muhairi, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman and Director General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Khalid bin Sulayem
