Antiquities Minister Mamdouh Damaty
Cairo - MENA

Antiquities Minister Mamdouh Damaty said on Thursday that radar scans of King Tutankhamun's 3,300-old tomb unveiled two hidden chambers on the western and northern side.

Organic and metal materials are believed to be inside the two chambers, the minister said at a press conference at the ministry headquarters on the results of the radar scans.

A Japanese team conducted the scans on November 26 and 27.

The move comes after the "hidden chamber" theory of British Egyptologist Nicholas Reeves in which he believed Queen Nefertiti’s crypt may be buried in hidden doorways behind King Tutankhamun’s tomb.

In his theory, Reeves argues that Tut, who died at the age of 19, may have been rushed into an outer chamber of what was originally the tomb of Nefertiti, which has never been found.
