Kuwait's FM stresses importance of highlighting Gulf cultures

Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah on Wednesday stressed the importance of highlighting the rich culture of the Gulf states to the world. The ministerial meeting discussed the significance of disseminating the GCC countries' ancient cultures, which date back to prehistory, to the whole world, Sheikh Mohammad said in a press statement following the conclusion of the 18th meeting of the Culture Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council on Wednesday. He said that the GCC countries bear rich cultures despite their negative stereotyped image, stressing the role of Culture Ministers in the dissemination of such valuable civilizations and cultures to all parts of the world. During the meeting, the ministers were keen on paying attention to cultural development through keeping abreast of the recent developments in this field in order to reflect such various achievements to the world, he added. In addition, Sheikh Mohammad expressed his hope that Gulf media would shed light on the cultural developments of the Gulf states. On establishing a mechanism for an electronic link between GCC cultural institutions and national libraries, he said that this subject was adopted at the meeting and is expected to be launched soon. Sheikh Mohammad concluded by saying that one of the most important topic discussed during the meeting was the adoption of Madinah as the capital of Islamic culture next year as the Culture Ministers agreed to allocate a special site for Gulf culture ministries in it.
