Istanbul - Fars

Turkish publishers welcome Iranian children and young adult's books very much, director of the international section of Eve Literary Agency said that."Turkey usually warmly welcomes Iranian children and young adult's books rather than other books and most of the works are rendered into Turkish," Majid Jafari-Aghdam told the Iranian book news agency. Talking about the Iranian books in Turkey, Jafari-Aghdam said, " Works of Iranian poets and authors are mostly translated and released in Turkey. The books hold two conditions; either their copyright has been purchased or the translators selected some parts of the Iranian books, particularly the old stories, and translated them into Turkish which were released in Turkey as "Iranian expressions". He added, "Most of the copyrights were sold through the communications of the authors and poets with the Turkish publishers." Jafari-Aghdam said that the international section of Turkey's Book Fair was too small. Iran had no pavilion in the fair and among the Turkish books, the translations of Iranian children and young adult's books were more than other Iranian books. Following children and young adult's books, religious books by Shariati and Motahari were released and works of Iran's theosophical literature were included as well. He added," During the days which the international section was held, we met with 17 Turkish publishers and literary agencies. We sealed agreements with some of them in order to publish Iranian books in Turkey and vice versa." He went on to say that Turkey International Book Fair did its best to copy Frankfurt International Book Fair but its space was less and it wasn't even as big as the children's section of Tehran's International Book Fair. The international section of Turkey's Book Fair ran for 4 days and ended on Nov.16.
