Tehran - Fna

The Iranian Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry imposed a ban on import of the copies of the Holy Quran published in China. China has been exporting copies of the Holy Quran to Iran in recent months and after the old printing industry of the country could not satiate the Iranian people's domestic need. But soon several Iranian officials and cultural and religious figures started criticizing the import of the China-printed Holy Quran copies due to the large number of spelling mistakes in the copies. On Wednesday, Iranian Deputy Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Bahman Dorri informed that his ministry has issued a communiqué to the country's customs offices asking them to prevent such copies from getting into Iran. Dorri further urged for more culture-oriented approaches when drafting policies and fulfilling tasks, reiterating that in cultural issues there should be a cultural, rather than an economic, outlook. He said importing copies of the Holy Quran from China is unacceptable not only economically, culturally and scientifically, but also in terms of religious rules. He added that his ministry plans to renovate and boost the country's printing industry in a bid to create a capacity for printing the Holy Quran and meet the need to Quran copies in Iran and elsewhere.
