Gamal Abdel Nasser Museum
Cairo - MENA

The Gamal Abdel Nasser Museum will open on July 23, on the anniversary of the 1952 Revolution, as a cultural edifice that will recollect an important phase of Egypt's history and recount Nasser's life, the culture minister announced Wednesday.
The house of the late president will be converted into a museum, Gaber Asfour said during a tour of the house today in the neighborhood of Manshiet el Bakri.
History was made in this house, it is from this office the decisions that have shaped the country's destiny were taken, he said.
Egypt’s second president, Abdel Nasser led the country during the 1952 revolution, which ended with the monarchy’s abdication and established a new government in Egypt. Among his main achievements were the nationalization of the Suez Canal and building the High Dam at Aswan.
The museum will showcase Abdel Nasser’s personal belongings, including the medallions that he received during his military service, home furniture and draft speeches and official letters.
Abdel Nasser’s children, Hoda and Abdel Hakim, are helping to establish and renovate the museum.
The museum will be the second dedicated to Abdel Nasser’s memory. The other, the Gamal Abdel Nasser Museum in the pharaonic village in Cairo, holds over 170 rare pictures of the former president. It also displays the speeches Abdel Nasser gave when he nationalized the Suez Canal and at his stepping down in 1967.
