Al Ain - Arab Today

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi has announced its newest programme in Al Ain, 'Al Qattara Cinema', a platform to introduce UAE film-makers to the world. It aims to familiarise audiences with UAE films and their various artistic manifestations, providing a cinematic platform that celebrates local filmmakers and brings them closer to audiences as well as reinforcing the link between the local community and the arts.

The programme will make its debut at Al Qattara Arts Centre with a film screening of 'The Lights of Rome', directed by Emirati filmmaker Ali Khaled.

The Lights of Rome documents the story of the UAE national football team’s historic achievement of qualifying for the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. The film focuses on many characters who played a huge part in this momentous event, including administrative officials and players. The film will be screened on 24th November at 8 p.m..
