Dubai - Arab Today

Dar Al Ber Society, a philanthropic and charitable organisation based in Dubai, has organised 2,897 lectures for 2,220 new Muslim converts of 35 nationalities, including two Arab countries, in the first nine months of this year.

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the society, said these cultural and awareness lectures and preaching sessions were held at two different venues. "Around 2,047 new Muslim converts attended these lectures at the Dar Al Ber Society headquarters on Sheikh Zayed road, and 173 at the Society branch in the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah," he added.

Official records show that 518 men and women residents were influenced by the tolerance of Islam and willingly converted to Islam in during these 9 months.

"These were against the 974 new Muslim converts in the second quarter of the year and 674 over the last three months of the same year from 1st July to 30th September," he said.

According to Rashid Al Junaibi, Manager of the Islamic Information Centre, a leading branch of Dar Al Ber, they were mainly concerned with spreading and promoting the Islamic culture based on moderation and tolerance.

"We spare no effort to counter extreme and fanatic ideologies with so many programmes, spanning a big number of cultural and awareness lectures," he said.
