Danish Crown Prince Frederik Andre Henrik and Crown Princess Mary got acquainted with the rich history of the Kingdom during their visit to the Al-Masmak Palace Museum in Riyadh
on Sunday.
The royal couple, accompanied by a delegation including ministers and senior officials, were also briefed about the efforts of legendary King Abdul Aziz for unification of the modern Kingdom.
They were accompanied by Abdul Rahman Al-Fadli, minister of agriculture, during their visit and were welcomed upon arrival by Al-Masmak Palace Museum Director Nasir Al-Eraifi.
“They listened to a detailed explanation on the historical importance of the museum and the efforts of the Kingdom’s founder King Abdul Aziz in the unification of Saudi Arabia,” a museum official said on Monday. The royal couple toured different halls of the museum and were impressed by the exhibits including photos and paintings on Riyadh’s history. They also attended a presentation on the museum.
At the end of the visit, the Danish crown prince signed the museum guestbook in which he expressed his admiration about the museum and its exhibits, which highlight the cultural dimension and the illustrious history of the Kingdom.
Earlier on Sunday, a Danish delegation consisting of ministers and senior officials also visited the historical museum. The delegation, led by Danish foreign minister Kristian Jensen, was received by Al-Eraifi.
The Al-Masmak fort and museum is a focal point of admiration with visiting high-profile leaders. Recent visitors to the museum included French President Francois Hollande, Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny and New Zealand Governor-General Jerry Mateparae.
