Arab writers union asks Qatar to establish national authors association
Qatari Culture Minister Hamad bin Abdel Aziz al-Kawari

Secretary General of the General Union of Arab Writers Mohamed Salmawi met Tuesday with Qatari Culture Minister Hamad bin Abdel Aziz al Kawari to deliver an official request for Doha to establish a national association of authors to be able to join the union.
Salmawi made it clear to Kawari that all Arab authors are represented at the union, except those from Qatar and Saudi Arabia because the authorities in their countries do not allow them to form unions.
Salmawi arrived in Doha Monday night coming from the UAE.
