Madrid - Arab Today

Bahraini Non-Resident Ambassador to Spain Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa hosted a celebration for the first time in Spain marking Bahrain's National Day and His Majesty the King's Accession Day. It included a reception ceremony and a lunch banquet at the Wiston Palace Hotel.

Shaikh Fawaz received a number of guests of honour marking the occasion, including the ambassadors of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, the Arab League, Yemen, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan and Mauritania. Representatives of the embassies of Oman, Morocco and Iraq also attended the celebration alongside senior officials from the Spanish Foreign Ministry, the Defence Ministry and the Chamber of Commerce in Madrid.

Shaikh Fawaz stressed in his speech that the national festivities in Bahrain are a celebration of the spirit of tolerance, co-existence and economic opportunities which is prevalent in Bahrain. This spirit, he said, is unique as it fosters co-existence between all religions and cultures. He lauded distinguished relations between Bahrain and Spain and both countries' keenness to further bolster them to enhance trade and investment.
