Trpoli - WAM
Oil exports have resumed from the Libyan ports of Zueitina and Al Harika after a cessation of three weeks because of sit-ins. Rajab Sahnoun, the supervisor of Al Harika port confirmed that export activities resumed yesterday, adding that a solution was found for the demands of the protesters who left after elements of the Libyan army arrived to secure the port. According to an engineer who works for Zueitina Petroleum, it has resumed pumping oil and gas, and exports will soon begin. The ports were closed because of protests and technical problems, and stopped working at the beginning of the year. The resulting downtime at the ports led to a decline in oil production to less than one million barrels per day at a time when Libya had been producing around 1.6 million barrels per day, before the revolution of 17th of February.
