Minister of Oil Ali Al-Omair said Tuesday the oil sector believed in partnership with civil society organizations to serve the community and build the Kuwaiti citizens as well as improve their capabilities. The oil sector has been paying attention to the development of the Kuwaiti citizen as one of the pillars of sustainable development, Al-Omair, also Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, said in the final ceremony of a competition co-organized by the Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) and Kuwait University's Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum about waste management for better environment. The oil sector, he added, was keen on boosting environmental awareness through involvement of educational institutions, as well as urging students to conduct environmental researches. The competition, said Al-Omair, aimed at creationg suitable atmospheres for the youth to show their talents and skills for sustainable development and better future. Assistant Undersecretary for Youth at the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Dr. Fawaz Al-Husainan, said the government was keen on the development of youth hence the establishment of the ministry. He said the Ministry of Youth was working on boosting social bonds within the society and bolstering competitiveness among youths. PIC CEO Asaad Al-Saad said the company was encouraging voluntary action in partnership with civil society organizations with the objective of supporting environmental-friendly projects and sustainable development. PIC, he added, has been launching environmental, health and educational initiatives like the green fence of Kuwait and the setting up of a solar-energy-powered desert camp. Dr. Hussein Al-Khayyat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum, said the competition would allow high school students a chance to show their skills
