Iran to increase gas condensates output

Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Abbas Kazzemi underlined the ministry's determination to boost the country's gas condensates production through implementation of several mini-refineries in the Southern province of Bushehr. Kazzemi, who is also managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), said eight gas condensate mini-refineries are to be constructed in Assalouyeh with a total processing capacity of 480,000 b/d. He said each refinery is estimated to cost 2.2 to 3 trillion rials (Iranian currency), adding that they would produce light naphtha, heavy naphtha, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and gas oil. The South Pars gas field, divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf on the common border between Iran and Qatar. The field is estimated to contain 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates. The field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which lie in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers, i.e. North Dome, are located in Qatar's territorial waters.
