New York - UPI
Crude oil prices turned lower Thursday morning after the U.S. Energy Information Administration said stockpiles of crude rose last week. In the week ending Friday, U.S. inventories of crude oil rose by 8.5 million barrels to 367.6 million barrels. Stockpiles remain "above the upper limit for the average range" for this time of year, the weekly status report said. West Texas Intermediate crude oil for October delivery, which made a run toward $100 per barrel early in the week, gave up 31 cents on the New York Mercantile Exchange Thursday morning to reach $91.99 per barrel. Natural gas added 4.5 cents early to $2.807 per million British thermal unit. Home heating oil gained 2.3 cents to $3.067 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline added 2.82 cents to $2.7555 per gallon. At the pump, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.846 per gallon, down from Wednesday's $3.854, AAA reported.
