Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) took part in the 8th Middle East Refining and Petrochemicals Conference and Exhibition (Petrotech 2012) which was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa from May 21 to 24. His Royal Highness deputised Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to open the exhibition, which was held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre. Accompanied by Energy Minister and Chairman of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) Dr. Abdul Husain bin Ali Mirza and senior officials, Shaikh Khalid toured the exhibition and got briefed about the latest technological developments in the oil and petrochemical industries. He also visited the joint pavilion that grouped GPIC and other industrial companies under the umbrella of the National Oil and Gas Authority where he was received by GPIC Managing Director Mr. Anwar Saeed ben Salamah, President Mr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and a number of senior officials. Shaikh Khalid was briefed on GPIC’s products on display at the stand and was informed about the training programmes offered by the Company to its staff members to enhance their professionalism and efficiency. He expressed his appreciation of the continuous development of GPIC plants and the latest industrial technology adopted in its operations. He noted with appreciation the excellent quality of GPIC products that were in high demand in the export markets in the east and west. he said the Company’s achievements and remarkable success were sources of pride not only to the Company but also to the Bahraini industry in general and the oil and gas sectors in particular. The Deputy Prime Minister urged GPIC staff members to make further efforts to maintain the gains and achievements of their Company. He hailed the Company as an exemplary model of successful Gulf co-operation. Thanks to concerted efforts of all the Gulf shareholders of the Company, GPIC was able to gain a niche position amongst leading international petrochemical producers. On his part, Mr. Jawahery expressed his sincere thanks to the Deputy Premier for the continuous support and backing enjoyed by GPIC from the Kingdom’s leadership with special emphasis upon supporting the GPIC expansion projects that are planned to be carried out to double its output of petrochemicals. In addition to GPIC, the joint pavilion included companies like Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas) and Skaugen Gulf. Petrotech 2012 is the eighth in a series of biennial conferences and exhibitions held in the Kingdom of Bahrain since the launch of the first in this series in 1996. The event aims at benefiting from available opportunities in the Gulf countries and explore areas of growth in petroleum technology. The Conference witnessed a high turnout of specialists, visitors, businessmen and a number of local, regional and international oil companies. It was held under the theme "Creating Value: Technology, Investment and People". The Conference's programme included papers and presentations by experts and keynote speakers who submitted more than 90 presentations related to petrochemical industries. More than 1500 delegates, representing more than 100 companies from 20 countries, took part in the event.
