Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Chairman Khalid Abdulrahman Almoayyed today received South Korean Ambassador Joon Ha Yu.
BCCI First and Second Vice Chairmen Othman Sharif Al-Rayyes and Jawad Yusuf Al-Hawaj also attended the meeting at Beit Al-Tejjar along with board members Ahmed Abdulla bin Hindi and Ahlam Yusuf Janahi, the Chief Executive Officer Nabeel Abdulrahman Al-Mahmoud and other administrative officials.
Mr. Almoayyed commended steadily growing joint economic relations between the two countries, affirming Bahrain’s resolve to bolster trade and industrial cooperation and boost investments with South Korea.
According to latest external commerce figures released by the Central Informatics Organisation (CIO), the volume of trade exchanges between Bahrain and South Korea average $818 million.
Mr. Almoayyed recalled the landmark visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier to South Korea in April 2012, accompanied by a high-profile business delegation.
The two sides had then signed a string of agreements and memoranda of understanding with Government and private parties to exchange visits and transfer expertise.
Meanwhile, the South Korean Ambassador commended strong political and economic relations, hailing the atmosphere of co-existence, openness and economic growth momentum in Bahrain.
He affirmed his country’s keen interest in further bolstering economic cooperation in all fields and boosting joint investments.
He announced that two new South Korean companies specialized respectively in electronic security technologies and industrial air-conditioning are planning to open regional branches in Bahrain, being a gateway to expand business operations in the Arabian Gulf region.
