The move is aimed at discouraging the spread of unidentified calling cards
Riyadh - Arab Today

Mobile users are no longer required to enter their identification (ID) numbers to recharge their prepaid SIM cards.
The Saudi Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC) announced its decision on Wednesday and it became effective the same day.
The move is aimed at discouraging the spread of unidentified calling cards, according to the CITC announcement.
The commission had made it mandatory for prepaid SIM users to enter their ID/Iqama numbers on July 31, 2012, in a bid to check the sale of unauthorized SIM cards.
