Mountain View - UPI

A Turkish hacker has issued an apology after crashing Google's app publishing system for Android smartphones. Google's Play Store was made inaccessible to application developers Sunday and then again on Monday, CNNMoney reported. Developers were blocked from uploading apps to the store, making new apps and updates unavailable for Android users. Ibrahim Balic, a Turkish hacker, claimed responsibility for the incident, saying he found a vulnerability in Google's Developer Console. Balic said after finding the weak spot, he developed an app to try and exploit it, but he expected the app to fail. However, he ended up knocking everyone offline. "I didn't have any malicious aim," he told CNNMoney. "I am so sorry for this damage." "I just wanted to be sure about [the] vulnerability," Balic said. Balic said he notified Google but has yet to hear back. Google has not commented on the incident.
