Siemens Industry Inc. of Buffalo Grove, Ill, is recalling 57,000 temperature and heat sensors due to a fire hazard, a federal agency said. The recall involves 57,000 wall-mounted Q-Series Temperature and Humidity Sensors. The company has received reports of four incidents in which the sensors have overheated causing fires, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said. The sensors were made to control heat, air conditioning and humidity in commercial buildings, hospitals and schools. They could have a Siemens, Talon, Staefa Control System or Staefa Control System/Talon logo. Some have no logo. The model numbers of the recalled sensors are QAA 2060, QAA 2063, QAA 2072, QAA 2073, QFA 2000, QFA 2001, QFA 2060, QFA 2071, QFA2072, QFA 3000, QFA 3001, QFA 3060, QFA 3071 and SB1-0834. They were sold from June 2007 through August 2012 for $200-$400. Consumers were advised to immediately have any of the sensors operating on AC power converted to a DC power source. Consumers can contact Siemens to schedule installation of a free replacement. Consumers can call 800-516-9964 for information.
