Hong Kong - Yonhap

South Korean tech behemoth Samsung Electronics Co. will likely upgrade its new liquid crystal display (LCD) plant to an 8.5th-generation one, industry sources said Friday, indicating that it will use more recent and advanced technologies to produce LCD panels in China. In May, Samsung Electronics started work on its new LCD plant in Suzhou on China's east coast. The company earlier signed an agreement with Chinese TV maker TCL Corp. to set up Samsung Suzhou LCD (SSL), a joint venture, that will operate the plant.
