Dubai - Arabstoday
Organisers of Gitex Shopper 2011 said millions of dirhams in gadgets and electronics were sold over the eight-day shopping event, with laptops, tablets, digital cameras, smart phones, and LEDs/LCDs among the best performing categories. "Power retailers and world-class brands participating in the show reported total sales in excess of Dh193 million," a statement said. Visitor numbers also swelled to 169,018. With more than 160 retailers and more than 25,000 products available, Gitex Shopper offered a wider choice for them in 2011. Organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the sales extravaganza will return in October 2012. Plans are in place for an even bigger Gitex Shopper next year, which will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
