Egypt occupies the fifth position in the international scientific publications in the nanotechnology domain, the deputy higher education minister said.

Essam Khamis said the national strategy for science, technology and innovation seeks to apply nanotechnology in the field of water treatment and desalination.

During a workshop on Tuesday, Khamis said several international initiatives have shown that nanotechnology can be beneficial in improving people's standards of living and protecting the environment

China comes at the top in this domain followed by Iran, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
