Jakarta - Arab Today

All women in Indonesia, including those of Papua, have made a significant contribution to the development of the nation and country, according to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"Facts on the field indicate that women in Papua have worked hard for the advancement, prosperity, and welfare of Indonesia," the president noted while speaking during the commemoration of the 89th National Mother`s Day, here, Friday.

The president expressed pride and lauded the women who work for improving the welfare of their families.

"We have seen women who sell salak, sago, and areca nut. I think this demonstrates the power and struggle of women for offering education to their children and boosting the welfare of their families," he pointed out.

The head of state said he will likely install female ministers in his cabinet, which currently has nine women ministers.

The 89th Mother`s Day is themed "Empowered Women, Great Indonesia."

"Be the mothers of the nation, hi, Indonesian Women. Happy Mothers` Day," Jokowi noted.

Mother`s Day is special for Indonesia, as it is an important celebration for Indonesian women, the country, and the nation, according to Jokowi.

"Women in Indonesia should be further empowered since they had participated in the fight for the country`s independence. Hence, I laud the theme of this Mother`s Day," he stated.

The president noted that his Working Cabinet had several women, as there were nine women ministers.

"Hence, in the Working Cabinet, there are nine female ministers. In fact, Indonesia is one of the countries in the world with the largest number of female ministers," he remarked
