Costa Del Sol - UPI
A Spanish woman who alleged her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend kidnapped her and beat her has recanted her story, authorities said. The 22-year-old Costa del Sol woman told police she received texts from an unknown number telling her to meet her current boyfriend in a secluded area, but that when she showed up, she came upon her ex-boyfriend and his current partner, ThinkSpain reported Monday. She alleged the couple then tied her up, blindfolded her, stuffed her into the back of a car and took her to an abandoned area. She said they then tied her to a tree and beat her repeatedly before leaving the scene. However, police said the woman lied about the entire scenario, and admitted to sending herself text messages from other phones and post threatening messages on her own Facebook page using fake profiles she created. The woman also allegedly tied herself up before calling police to report the fake kidnapping. When being questioned by police, contradictions in her statement arose, and the woman apparently broke down crying and admitted to the whole thing being a plot to get revenge on her ex-boyfriend. The woman was being held by police for further questioning.
