Sheikha Fariha al-Ahmad al-Jaber
Istanbul - KUNA

The 5th Bosphorus Summit was launched here on Wednesday with the Kuwaiti representative to the summit, Chairperson of the Kuwait Society for the Ideal Family Sheikha Fariha Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, giving a keynote opening speech.
She hoped in the speech that the summit would espouse increasing the income of developing countries through creating jobs and investment opportunities as well as controlling inflation rates.
She stressed the need for these developing countries to diversify their economies and follow full-employment strategies for their people.
She praised the previous four Bosphorus summits for having generated strong interest among participating nations to grow their economies and human development, noting that the UN has always encouraged developing countries to emphasize the role of the economy in their growth plans.
She made a special reference in her speech to the leaps and bounds the Kuwaiti woman has achieved in recent times, being able -- among other things -- to run a business and attain high-ranking and paying jobs in the public and private sectors.
The summit was officially opened earlier today by the former Turkish president Abdulla Gul who noted that it was being convened at a crucial time in the region, with trouble spots still looming in such places as Syria, Iraq, and Palestine.
The summit -- being held under the leitmotif: Changing Scenarios of Tomorrow: Capturing Complexities and Cultivating Dialogues -- will primarily discuss over a three day period socio-political and economic changes in the Middle East and North Africa, including subjects on energy, climate change and its effects on food security and water, and financial woes affecting societal growth and development.
