Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) member and women’s sports committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa had a meeting with Director of Training and Research at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Tunisia Dr. Almolody Al Shaikh to activate joint ties between both countries in the field of sports. During the meeting, which took place at the BOC premises in Seef, both parties reviewed ways of boosting sports in Bahrain in general, and specifically women’s sports. Dr Al Shaikh presented to Shaikha Hayat the Tunisian experience in establishing various sports training centres to benefit from in order to apply it in the Kingdom of Bahrain. On her part, Shaikha Hayat briefed the visitor on the efforts exerted by the BOC women’s committee in an attempt to expand the culture of women’s sports in Bahrain, the remarkable results achieved by the Bahraini women in on the international level and the tremendous of the kingdom hosting the Third GCC Women’s Games this year in March. She lauded the efforts exerted by the Tunisian ministry in developing women’s sports, which resulted in the upgrade of different sports and emergence of many Olympic champions. Dr Al Shaikh expressed admiration on the major development in regard to women’s sports in Bahrain and the outstanding results achieved in regional, continental and international championships. He stressed the willingness of the youth and sports ministry in Tunisia to enable Bahrain reach higher standards by offering its expertise, and wished Bahrain progress. The meeting was also attended by Acting Tunisian Ambassador to Bahrain Yassin bin Abdulmutaleb, BOC sports affairs executive director Noaman Al Hassan and BOC International Affairs executive co-ordinator Mohammed Al Zayed.
