Hala al-Ansari
Manama - BNA

Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women Hala Al-Ansari has welcomed the edict issued by the Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to set up an Equal Opportunities Unit at the Ministry of Interior.
She described the edict as a step aiming to achieve the principles of equality and equal opportunities through the integration of women's needs in the Initerior Ministry's programmes and projects, in line with the National Plan to Implement the National Strategy for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.
She praised the importance of the panel, given its crucial role in consolidating employees in all the Interior Ministry's departments and women police, which will reflect positively on its role in serving the community, on the one hand, and contribute to highlighting the Bahraini women's participation in this regard.
Al-Ansari extended sincere thanks to the Minister of Interior for backing the establishment the Equal Opportunities Unit and naming its members, stressing that the edict was issued ahead of the kingdom's celebrations of the Bahraini Women's Day 2014, set to honour women's achievements in the military field.
It is worth noting that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Royal Order 14 of 2011, establishing the National Committee for the Follow-Up of the Implementation of the National Model for Mainstreaming Women's Needs in the Government Work Plan, under the chairmanship of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women.
