New Delhi - WAM

Minister of State, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, on Thursday, inaugurated the UAE-India Business forum, organised by the UAE embassy in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Indian government and the Confederation of Indian industry.

The forum coincided with the 11th UAE-India Economic Committee meeting, co-chaired by the UAE Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj.

Also present at the forum were Khalid bin Ghanim Al Ghaith, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, officials from the UAE embassy in New Delhi, in addition to officials and businessmen from both countries.

The Indian government made presentations on the 'Made in India' initiative, the UAE-India infrastructure fund, electronics, highways, ports, railways and the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor.

Reem Al Hashimy said the UAE was ready to take its bilateral ties with India to new strategic levels. She added that there are more than 950 flights between the UAE and India every week, an evidence of the growing ties between the governments and peoples of the two countries.

Anil Wadhwa, Secretary (East) in the Indian External Affairs Ministry, praised the positive outcome of the visit made recently by the Indian Prime Minister to the UAE, including the creation of a joint fund for infrastructure investments and the pledge made by the two sides to increase trade between the two countries by 60 percent in the next five years.
