Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim al-Khalifa (C)
Manama - BNA

Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has lauded the sound vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, to launch the National Labour Market Observatory project.
She said the project, based on solid scientific bases and aiming to reduce the gap between the education output and the labour market's needs, will serve as a guide for university students and help them choose disciplines and specialties required by the labour market.
Speaking as she received here today the Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Humaidan, in the presence of a number of the Labour Ministry's officials, HRH Princess Sabeeka affirmed the importance of HRH the Crown Prince's project, being a major initiative aiming to reform the labour market.
She stressed the need to promote the social culture in favour of women's access to the labour market, calling for the need to take advantage of the Labour Ministry's opportunities and incentives to encourage the private sector to attract female job-seekers.
HRH Princess Sabeeka discussed with the Labour Minister the outcomes of the second "Women and Work" Exhibition, co-organised by the ministry and the SCW last October, and resulted in creating 1,400 job opportunities for females.
She commended the efforts of the Labour Ministry to encourage female job-seekers to look for jobs that appeal to them, and motivate the private sector to embrace Bahraini competencies through giving them the opportunity to acquire experience and competitiveness that enable them to maintain their jobs and avoid repeated return to the un-employment lists.
HRH Princess Sabeeka was briefed by the minister on the Labour Ministry's strategies for the coming period, especially regarding initiatives to facilitate job search for male and female job seekers. He stressed the ministry's keenness to provide employment and training opportunities, create incentives and review laws, which, he said, has contributed to the decline of unemployment rates and kept it at a lower level.
The Labour Minister praised HRH Princess Sabeeka's constant support for Bahraini women at all levels, citing the programmes and projects aiming to create job opportunities for females.
He affirmed the ministry's desire to consolidate partnership with the SCW, as part of efforts to implement the National Plan for the Advancement of the Bahraini Women aiming to empower women economically and socially.
