Mount Holly - UPI

Three young South Jersey women were charged Monday with stealing markers and flower urns from military graves and selling them to a scrap yard. The three became suspects when the owner of the Philadelphia scrap yard, suspicious of their story, called the cemetery in Cinnaminson, N.J., The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Arielle K. Levin, 19, of Palmyra, Jamie L. Babcock, 27, of Bellmawr, and Tosha M. Fugett, 25, of Riverside, were being held in the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail each. The cemetery said 380 metal markers had been taken. The men whose graves were desecrated were veterans of the Civil War and most U.S. conflicts up to the Persian Gulf War. A number of cemeteries in neighboring towns have reported similar thefts, and investigators were trying to determine whether the three were involved. New Camden Cemetery in Camden reported the theft of 150 flag holders May 29.
