Vadodara - Arab Today

For the first time, M S University (MSU) will experiment with air-conditioned (AC) portable classrooms to accommodate students. Facing space crunch, the university has decided to use portable cabins as classrooms for the students who will be admitted to the Maharaja Ranjitsinh Gaekwad Institute of Design in the forthcoming academic year. The university is already pursuing construction of a new building for the Maharaja Ranjitsinh Gaekwad Institute of Design, a new institute started by Faculty of Fine Arts. The new building which has been designed as most modern, hi-tech, eco-friendly building that can provide a new image to the landscape of the university campus is being constructed at the cost of Rs six crore. The new building will come up behind the Department of History and adjacent to the cricket ground and connect the present Faculty of Fine Arts through a new bridge. Presently, the institute is operating from the registrar’s and pro vice-chancellor’s bungalows. “But the space available in the two bungalows is enough only to accommodate the 100-odd students which were enrolled in the first year at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. In the new academic year, there will be an addition of another 130 students in the institute. Hence, we have decided to use portable AC classrooms at the premises,” MSU vice-chancellor professor Yogesh Singh said. In its first year, the institute had enrolled 70 students at the undergraduate level and 30 students at the post-graduate level. In the new academic year, the institute will enroll 100 students at the undergraduate level. It is worth mentioning here that the courses run by the institute of design are the costliest across the campus. Source: Education News
