New Delhi - Arab Today

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has ordered a financial assistance of $5 million to Hamdard University in India to fund the university’s educational projects, including a medical college, which will be named after the king, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday. Sulaiman Abalkhail, president of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, signed an agreement with Dr. G.N. Qazi, vice chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, for the aid on Wednesday in the presence of Saudi Ambassador to India Saud bin Mohammed Al-Sati, the agency said. The agreement involves exchange of students, staff and expertise, curricula development, issuance of scholarships and joint research works as well as joint organization of seminars and conferences, said Abalkhail. “Of the total aid, $4 million will be given for building a medical college, which will be named after the king, while $1 million will be for expanding Majeediya Hospital at Hamdard,” the Riyadh university president said and described Hamdard as one of India’s reputable universities. Qazi thanked King Abdullah for his generous donation to the university and said it would help the university expand its medical research and services. Source: Education News
