British ambassador to Jordan, Edward Oakden
Amman - Petra

British ambassador to Jordan, Edward Oakden, Monday, said his country is committed to supporting Jordan's education sector and would contribute 60 million pounds, that was announced during the London donors conference, by 20 million pounds annually. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Mohammad Thneibat, during a meeting with the ambassador Monday, highlighted the massive burdens Jordan shoulders as a result of hosting the Syrian refugees, especially the increasing strain on the education sector.

Thneibat also pointed to the outstanding relations with Britain, as well as its support to Jordan.

This commitment, Oakden said, is aimed at supporting Jordanian education sector, and is in line with the response to the London's conference recommendations.

Thneibat expressed hope that the British government will urge donor nations and international organizations to provide more support to Jordan.
