Al Hail
Muscat - Arab today

Students from the Aseela bint Qais School in Al Hail got an insider’s view of the State Council’s premises on Sunday during an educational visit meant to teach them about its processes, discover its history, and accessing related information.

The State Council believes that students can expand their knowledge and understanding of politics and democracy through such first-hand experiences. It has an outreach programme dedicated to execute this belief, which enables engaging with students, answering their questions and raising awareness about how pivotal they are to the integrity of the nation’s democratic institutions and Oman’s future.

Sultan Al Farsi, section head of the reports and working papers section of the General Secretariat for meetings and committees at the State Council delivered a presentation, detailing the tasks and responsibilities assigned to the Council.

During the visit, the students were also briefed on the "three powers" of the Council and the stages of the draft law processing, and the differences between the State Council and the Shura Council regarding the terms of reference, the membership of the members and its extent of vested powers, in addition to the stages and duration of the draft law.

They also reviewed the organisational structure of the council, its activities and achievements. It is noteworthy that the Council seeks, by making room for these visits to students, to activating the level of partnership with the local community.

At the end of their Council tour, Al Farsi answered the students’ queries.
