law banning anonymous Wi-Fi
Moscow - Itar-Tass

The Russian government said the law banning anonymous Wi-Fi access might be changed, prime minister’s press secretary Natalya Timakova said on Friday.
“The government’s order originates from the country’s law on information, information technologies and information protection,” she said.
The press secretary told reporters as the government “studies the practice of using the law, it may, should it be required, draft and adopt necessary changes.”
The government’s order of Friday, August 8, bans anonymous access to the Internet in restaurants, metro, parks and other public places. Identifying of users will be responsibilities of communication operators. The document reads communication operators will be responsible for identifying users. Access to the Internet will be possible upon registration, where a user will have to give the full name “confirmed by an ID.” The law has caused mixed reactions in the Russian society.
