New Suez Canal project
Cairo - MENA

A journalist has created an online archive to memorize everything about the New Suez Canal , starting from the first moments of the digging operations about a year ago.

Hany Abdel Rahman, the director of Al Masri Al Yom newspaper office in Ismailia has taken it all on himself to collect exclusive videos and pictures that document the project and post them on the website.

The archive is the biggest worldwide in terms of the number of posted materials.

In statements to MENA on Tuesday, Abdel Rahman said he solely archived the digging and dredging operations of the canal. It was like a one-man-show, Abdel Rahman said.

Humanitarian stories are also included, the journalist said, citing a visit by a veteran fighter in the October 6 War to the digging site, where his colleague had died.

Abdel Rahman said this website is his gift to the world and Egyptians.

He made it clear that the website has the pictures of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, who made the decision to dig the New Suez Canal, chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish, who prepared the study for the project, and chairman of the engineering authority of the Armed Forces Kamel el Wazir, who is supervising operations.

The website includes videos that are translated into English, German, French, Russian and Chinese, Abdel Rahman said.

It also includes six youtube channels that show videos of the project, he added.
