GCC e-Government Ministerial Committee
Riyadh - BNA

The GCC e-Government Ministerial Committee will hold its fourth meeting in Doha on Tuesday.
At the beginning of the meeting, the ministers in charge will launch the e-Government Portal for the GCC countries on the internet and mobile phones in both Arabic and English, in accordance with international standards and the new global practices and trends such as the promotion of e-participation and access to open government data.
The first phase of the Portal includes information about e-government programmes in the GCC countries, and direct links to the e-services offered by the official portals for the Member States such as education, health, employment, tourism and others. The Portal will also feature the most prominent events and news in each country and the General Secretariat, according to UAE news agency (WAM).
The ministers will also launch the e-Security Network which aims to link e-government programmes in the GCC countries with a safe and reliable data network in order to allow and facilitate the secure exchange of e-government data in the fields of customs, health, education, traffic violations and other information between the relevant government agencies.
The meeting will cover a number of topics related to the development of e-government services and aspects of joint cooperation between the member states in this aspect, including the implementation of eight initiatives included in the strategy document indicative of e-government, and the adoption of the functions and mechanism of the national centres for computer emergency response committee and the public key infrastructure technical team, in preparation for their meetings.
The ministers will also review the results of the GCC countries in the United Nations survey about e-government in 2014, and a report about the activities of the 4th session of the GCC e-Government Conference and Exhibition Award, which will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Ministers will also consider the recommendations of the GCC e-Government Executive Committee at its 14th and 15th meetings, which aim at strengthening the role of e-government in serving the GCC citizens and improving the services provided to them, WAM reported.
