Paris - MENA

UNESCO will organize a conference on February 5 to probe effective ways to improve safety and protection of journalists and tackle means to end impunity for crimes against journalists.

The one-day conference, to be attended by representatives of media outlets and UNESCO's state members, aims to promote dialogue on security matters and underline need of protecting journalists.

UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova will open the conference with the participation of IFJ president Jim Boumelha and President World Editors Forum Erik Bjerager.
