National Defense Minister Yaacoub Sarraf telephoned the US Ambassador to Lebanon, Elizabeth Richard, thanking her for the $40 million donation from the United States to the Lebanese Army as part of the US Army's 2017 military aid program aimed at fighting terrorism.
Sarraf has been informed that the grant was deposited at the Central Bank, for the benefit of the Army.
He hoped that "cooperation will be continued and strengthened through the inclusion of a similar donation in this year's budget draft."
For her part, Richard congratulated the Lebanese Army on its performance and its rivalry, and stressed the need to strengthen the existing cooperation and work to secure the additional funding required
