Iraqi demonstrators in the country’s Anbar province have issued a new political magazine, titled The Echo Of The Strike, in attempts to educate the world about protester’s visions and demands amid a two-monthstalemate with beleaguered Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. De facto editor Saad el-Halousy told Arabstoday the magazine would be aimed at voicing demonstrators’ demands in el-Ramady while monitoring developments, news and official statements. “The new magazine could create a channel of communication which will help demonstrators gain the public’s sympathy, and ultimately achieve their demands,” el-Halousy said. Anbar has witnessed huge protests since December, demanding the cancellation of counter-terrorism laws and the release of hundreds of prisoners detained in state facilities. Unrest took a turn last month when security forces killed unarmed demonstrators, leading marchers to demand the overthrow of al-Maliki’s government. Organisers are currently in discussions over whether to take the protests to Iraq’s capital, Baghdad.
