Cairo - Somia Ibrahim

Head of the Egyptian President’s office, Mohamed Refaa el-Tahtawy, criticised media channels and newspapers for their recent tough criticism of the President, dubbing their approach as "an insult." During an interview on the Gomla Mofeeda Talk Show, el-Tahtawy called for greater respect for President Morsi, adding that the Egyptian President's ascent to power posed a threat to journalists who had enjoyed more advantages during Mubarak’s rule. "Today's Egypt enjoys more freedom and democracy" he added. On the same programme, Egyptian media presenter Yousif el-Hussieny detailed threats he had received since Morsi took power, claiming he was forced to hide out in a stranger's house for three days. He added that the ruling powers had not found a legal violation in order to prosecute him, so threatened him instead.
