Secretary-General of the Shura Council, Abduljalil Ibrahim Al-Tareef, has lauded the role of the Ministry of Information Affairs in highlighting the legislative role of the Council, covering its programmes and activities and informing the public about the issues it discusses.
He stressed the need to consolidate cooperation with the ministry as the kingdom’s media front, and given its credibility which earned it the trust of the citizens and residents.

Al-Tareef made the statements while signing a cooperation agreement between the Shura Council and the Ministry of Information Affairs, represented by its Undersecretary, Abdulrahman Mohammed Bahar.

Under the agreement, the ministry will cover the Shura sessions and activities, and Shura members will participate in TV and radio prgrammes during the Fourth Session of the Fourth Legislative Term.

He highlighted the directives of the Shura Chairman, Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, to provide all necessary information about the council’s legislative efforts and to enhance cooperation with the ministry as an essential partner in promoting awareness on the importance of the parliamentary culture and the development of the democratic process in the kingdom.

He also stressed Al-Saleh’s directives to enhance openness to all local and international media outlets to highlight the kingdom’s achievements in various fields.

The Shura secretary-general praised the role of the local media outlets and staff for their cooperation and efforts to cover parliamentary activities during the previous legislative sessions, expressing hope that cooperation between the Council and the media will continue.

The Undersecretary highlighted the ministry’s appreciation of the Shura Council keenness on informing the public about the legislative developments in the kingdom.
