Dubai - WAM

H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, honoured a group of local media institutions in recognition of their positive role in enhancing national cohesion and clarifying the UAE's unwavering stance in regional and international issues.

Sheikh Saif made the remarks in the presence of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The event was also attended by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, and a number of ministers and top officials.

The honouring ceremony was part of the fourth Emirati Media Forum.

It was held in recognition of the balanced and ideal performance of these institutions, and their integrity and objectivity in dealing with the regional changes, especially with regards to the current situation in the GCC region. It also acknowledged their way of addressing the media attacks launched by some entities to serve special agendas and malicious targets in favour of certain regional powers seeking to interfere in the internal affairs of the Gulf and plant seeds of division among brothers.

The list of honourees included 26 organisations in print, audio and electronic media, given their performance based on objectivity and credibility, respecting the mind of the recipient, uncovering facts, clarifying them to the audience both inside and outside the country, refuting false news, and nullifying what is intended to spread malicious rumours, target the country's capabilities and seek to divide its people and weaken its stability.

The list included four English language newspapers; Gulf News, Gulf Today, The National and Khaleej Times among others.
